As a healer and caretaker, I've had all these thoughts myself. What am I still doing here shut up in a house just to sit in a chair to rot and unable to do what I was put here on earth to do? Sometimes it is just prayers or sending out healing energy to other people and the world. It IS all those little acts of kindness that accumulate to grow into big things that make the difference.
Great article and reminder of reaching out to receive as well as give support! I feel like media does innately create an echo chamber that amplifies. Especially worrying stories. All those stories you get are potentially based on one set of statistics that was released, but discussed by many different sources. I don't say this to minimmize what you are reporting, but hopefully to scale the perspective from alarming to very important. I love what your heart turns to. You are a wonderful voice on my shoulder!
Some of my recent ChillMobile visits have been to nursing homes, neighborhoods and others places where people are venturing out to be social with each other outside. I can't tell you how positive these experiences are for everyone. Saturday night a community in Venice even hired a band with us providing treats so people could dance under the stars. Everyone was so happy. We are a social species. The worst thing for our mental health is to be isolated so I support your efforts to connect to others and to encourage everyone to try some simple things to just talk and share feelings with other humans.
I think we all feel this way often. For me, it helps just to reach out to another with a phone call, a note, or a small box of home-made cookies. I also pray specifically for people who ask or whose needs I know. Do what you can, whenever you can.
Another gem, Carrie. Your words are healing. You’re still helping people. Bravo.
