I am thrilled that you are doing this. I have so missed your column. The paper hasn’t been the same since you left. I would easily pay for this when you decide to go that route. ❤️
I am delighted you are back - I missed my Carrie fix especially in these troubling times. I always felt a little more grounded after reading your columns.
Carrie, depending on income needs, you might consider publishing a blog. Just for a look at one I follow religiously as do journalists and others from around the world see www.GeorgeVecsey.com. GV was a NYT Journalist, Appalchia at one time; religion, the worlds first major newspaper sports writer covering world soccer for the Times, 8 Worlds Cups; co-wrote “The Coal Miner’s Daughter;” and much more. Most important he is a great humanist, right up your alley. I expect you will succed with a pay portal, too, I read the Sarasota News Leader, for example.
One of the reason I decided to publish on Substack rather than Wordpress is that they make it extremely easy to monetize through subscription if/when I decide to go that route. I had to laugh that you mention George Vecsey; he and I were both in the sports department at the New York Times at the same time. Obviously he's done a little better than I have. ;)
I salute your continuing appetite for writing and reporting on difficult and meaningful subjects. After 44 years in newspapers and public radio, I know how hard that is, and I frankly ran out of gas. You write extremely well, and I admire your values. You represent the best of the profession.
Let me join the chorus, I am so glad you are back. As a polity Sarasota has so much going for it. What it needs are voices to hold it accountable to the great good. The new version of the H-T is a shadow of its former, vigorous self.
Looking forward to the next chapter. I suspect a longer time window to more fully explore, suggest solutions and gain allies will be very satisfying for you and the community.
The debut of “the next chapter”......it’s good to be reading your words again. Three things I particularly liked. The idea of a New Age Dear Abby, that made me smile, in a good way.🥰
The reference to “(Carrie) on”.... having a daughter named Carrie I find myself thinking the same sentiment when she is going through tough times. And, I like that you’re willing to embrace subjects more far-afield when the fancy strikes. Yes... let the new chapter begin.

Thank you!
I am thrilled you will bring your informed analysis of, and creative responses to, mental health issues in FL and beyond. Rock on, sistah!

I am so very happy that you are back writing about life in Sarasota. The H-T lost an insightful view when they lost you.
Thank you.
Glad you're back. I loved the edgy Carrie. Facing off with injustice from your experience or someone whose conduit you were. Stay safe and be well.
Thanks for your encouragement!

Welcome back!
Good beginning. Keep it going.
Always happy to hear your views and now as your own boss, the sky is the limit 👏
Glad you are back, have missed your insights and opinions. Looking forward to your future adventure 🥳
You had me at "She's baaaack".
