Carrie this is a sweet look at Pinecraft. Not sure you would do this but Discover Sarasota Tours does offer the Amish Experience tour where we help people understand, appreciate and fall in love with the unique Amish and Mennonite communities here in Sarasota. It runs every Thursday at 10. There is so much to learn and understand and we try to provide that in partnership with the Pinecraft community.

Thanks for sharing that information, Tammy. I'm sure there are many locals who would enjoy taking the tour.

They are enjoying the pandemic! :) I know a few people who are. I was in the Dollar Tree a couple weeks ago and the Amish were wearing masks there. I had come straight from a negative test so I wasn't wearing a mask - I simply explained my situation to anyone who looked at me long enough to register that I wasn't wearing a mask. And funny thing - while I was in the store three different people asked me where to find things. One woman said it was because I looked friendly because I wasn't wearing a mask. I'm glad you are writing again! I'm focusing on Facebook comments myself ;)

Carrie, it gave me a much more favorable view of the Amish. Thanks.

Makes me wish for outdoor Saturday’s with family competitions. Maybe I’ll have to write “that letter”! Thank you, for the insight, Carrie.

What a delight to read your objective and non-judgemental observations of this very unique community. You accurately depicted their simple, family-centric lives in a manner that was both informational and entertaining. There is room for all of us in this ark we call ‘life’.

Oh, Carrie.... I just learned about your Chronicles, today, when I received this timely article from my son! Wish I'd known about it Yesterday morning, and I would have certainly invited you to join us at Phillippi Mansion, to hear J B Miller's talk on the Amish/Mennonite Community's history here in Sarasota!! He was the lead off speaker for our Series over there and space was masked and limited to just 27 attendees! Quite a difference from the SRO crowd that we had to turn away at the Historical Society last year for his talk! I promised all the folks craning their necks on the front porch though, that the HSOSC would bring him back for another talk! He's great and I learned so much about the differences between the Amish and the Mennonites! So glad to see you are carrying on your expert journalistic capabilities! Thank you! Jane Kirschner

Sharing your stroll, thoughts and conversations is just as admirable as the Amish/Mennonite community.
