The cards were stacked against Cayla Pearson from birth. After years lost to trauma and addiction, the drive that kept her alive is now fueling her aspiration to become a lawyer.
The turning point is always when the person is ready. Thank heavens Cayla reached that point as obviously she has so much give. To turn such pain into something positive is something of a miracle. She is very young. I wish her a long, happy and productive life.
I’m happy she got help and is recovering. I remember her when I worked at the Sarasota jail. We tried to get her help through our Pretrial Release program but she wasn’t ready for it at the time.
What a great story and so happy to hear of Cayla's triumph against those odds!

Touching and, yet motivating in that it reflects that, with help, major life changes can take place. But it takes love and caring.
Carrie - your reporting of Cayla’s journey touched me deeply. Thank you for sharing it. Kathy
